Simple Ways to Make Your Packaging Feel More High-End (without the high cost)

Customers have high expectations these days. They want to feel a connection to the brands they shop with, whether that is through shared values, feeling like they are supporting the world through a brand’s give-back program, or through an incredible customer experience.

People are very willing to support smaller brands (rather than the quick gratification of Amazon) IF they feel like the process has value. If you have an easy-to-navigate website, a simple purchasing process, and you send a beautiful box to open, they will be hooked. You’ve likely received a package from a brand you love that had extra touches—it feels like a little gift to you!

While there are many high-end options you can craft, such as custom box inserts that perfectly hold products, custom shipping boxes, and more, there are plenty of ways to create an exciting, Instagram-worthy unboxing experience in an economical way. Some of our favorite economical ways to create that high-end feel:

01. Branded packing tape.

Create a branded, fun design with your logos, marks, patterns, colors—whatever feels like you! Purchase a big roll and put on your shipping boxes to give that custom feel without the high cost of custom printed shipping boxes. If you use white boxes, printing on clear tape can even mimic printing on the box!

PS There are plenty of places to get this printed, but some good options are Sticker Mule and Noissue.

02. Branded tissue paper and stickers.

This seems simple, but having a specially designed tissue paper to wrap your items in and sealing it inside your box with a sticker, or wrapping a sticker/label on the corner of your shipping box gives an extra special touch. You can show your personality with illustrations, patterns, or creative typography. It also gives your customer something to use if they are giving it as a gift.

PS We love the tissue paper from Noissue.

03. Custom stamp.

If you don’t want to order the high minimums that some printers require for custom shopping bags (or you have several sizes), try a logo stamp. You can ink it onto any size bag, and it will last you forever—no re-ordering. It also gives that bit of handmade feel, which can feels so personal and special, if that jives with your brand values.

04. Postcard insert.

Finally, leave your customer with something to remember you by. Adding a custom insert, like a postcard or flyer, can provide that reminder of why your brand connects with them. Share your brand values, share about your give-back efforts, give a discount code for a future purchase or a QR code (they are coming back!), show photos of how people use your product, design a quote they can hang in their office—the options are endless!

The options are endless when it comes to designing a fun and impactful unboxing experience. If you feel like you need guidance in creating this for your own brand, we’d love to collaborate! Reach out and share what you’re up to.
